Urijah Faber is coaching The Ultimate Fighter opposite interim featherweight champ Conor McGregor. While they won’t be fighting each other at the end of the season, most expected both men to be competing on the big December weekend that will have the TUF Finale and UFC 194 back-to-back.
McGregor of course, is set for a title unification bout against Jose Aldo at UFC 194, while the TUF Finale will be headlined by Faber’s teammate in Chad Mendes as he takes on Frankie Edgar. As for Urijah himself, he still currently without a dance partner.
“There’s been talk about a couple of different names that I can’t mention because it’s not official, but there’s talk about having me fight in December, I think December 11th, the day before Conor and Aldo fight,” Faber told Submission Radio earlier this week. “It’s not 100 percent sure though.”
On Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight, it was stated that Faber has been asking to compete in that big weekend, but no match up has been announced just yet.
When asked about the hold up in negotiations, a source from Faber’s camp told BloodyElbow.com that there’s still not much progress as “nobody wants to fight” Urijah on the December 11 or 12 cards.
Faber was last seen in the Octagon during the UFC’s inaugural event in Manila, Philippines. He lost by decision to Edgar in his return to featherweight, but states that he is open to competing in either division.
