Last week, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey appeared on Good Morning America, where she announced that her next fight would take place at UFC 195 against Holly Holm.
The news came as a surprise to fans and pundits alike, many of whom assumed that Miesha Tate would get the next title shot since UFC president Dana White had publicly stated as much. However, according to Tate, who spoke to TMZ Sports alongside Cris ‘Cyborg,’ the UFC never bothered to inform her of the recent switch.
“I didn’t know about it until the rest of the world – probably after since I was still sleeping,” Tate shrugged with a half-hearted laugh. “The reason they are telling us it isn’t happening is because Rousey vs. Holm sells more.
Even the Invicta FC featherweight champion was disappointed by the UFC’s decision to push Tate out of the picture, as she believed Tate was in line for a title shot.
“It surprised everybody. I don’t think this is about money. If you are in line, you fight for the belt. I think Tate deserves it.”
Cyborg also added that she remains ready and willing to fight Rousey whenever the UFC says so.
“Everyone wants to see us fight. It is not my choice or her {Rousey’s] choice, but the fans’ choice. I’m ready. Let’s go fight.
