Report: ‘Bigfoot’ Silva and Mark Hunt will square off again at UFC 193

According to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, we might be in for a sequel of one of the best heavyweight fights in UFC history — if not the best: Antonio Silva vs. Mark Hunt 2.

Although the date, the fight or venue has yet been officially announced, his sources state that the fight is planned for UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia on November 14.

Hunt and Silva put on a sheer frenzy in their first outing in December of 2013 and fought to a five-round draw. The fight is considered by many as of the best fights in UFC history. A bloody, back-and-forth spectacle, only tainted by the fact that Silva failed his post-fight drug test due to elevated levels of testosterone.

After a nine-month suspension, the Brazilian giant returned and suffered two back-to-back knockout losses to Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir, before winning his first fight since February 2013, earlier this month at UFC 190 against Hunt’s training partner Soa Palelei.

Hunt, who currently lives in Australia, earned himself a chance at the UFC interim heavyweight belt with a follow-up win over Roy Nelson, but ultimately came up short in the title bout against Fabricio Werdum in November. He lost another fight against Stipe Miocic in May, both times via TKO.

A welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit is expected to be the main event fight for UFC 193, the UFC’s debut in Melbourne.
