Sometimes a man has to take matters into his own hands. Alistair Overeem did just that by bugging Junior dos Santos on Twitter, yesterday.
The Dutch kickboxing expert believes that a win over JDS would put him in a position to fight for the UFC title. The fight has been rumored for quite some time now, and it makes sense since most of the top heavyweights are already booked in other bouts. And yet, nothing has been officially announced by the UFC brass. So why not use Twitter to help making things happen?
Overeem tweeted to dos Santos on Monday and implicated, the Brazilian might be scared to take the fight. Naturally, the former UFC champion was quick to answer, by tweeting to UFC president Dana White, CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and matchmaker Joe Silva and demanding a fight.
Here are the tweets:
Overeem currently rides a two-fight winning streak, with victories over Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson. Dos Santos managed to get back on the winning track with a hard-fought decision win over Stipe Miocic in December, after losing the rubber match against then-champion Cain Velasquez in October.
He underwent knee surgery in January, but is now ready to fight and plans on being the champion again by the end of this year.
