Brendan Schaub has apparently felt like speaking out on a few semi-taboo subjects this week. The first was his rant about Brazilian fighters being hurt by drug testing on his podcast. The most recent instance came on Joe Rogan’s Fight Companion podcast on the weekend, where he spoke out about ex-girlfriend Ronda Rousey.

Rousey, who is coming off a quick win over Bethe Correia at UFC 190, is arguably the UFC’s biggest star right now with the PPV numbers for the show seemingly blowing everyone’s expectations out of the water. When Rousey’s signing with Carls Jr. was brought up on the podcast, Eddie Bravo joked that Schaub should get back together with the women’s bantamweight champion. This was his response (via TMZ):

Schaub: “Believe me, I did her a favor man. I’m not the guy for the job. I’m just not. I’m too much (of a man). She needs a guy who’s gonna take a backseat. That’s not me. She also needs a guy that’s gonna say ‘yes ma’am, yes ma’am’.

“She’s so successful, she’s surrounded by people that worship her and go ‘yes, yes, that’s a great idea’. But when I said ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea’, now I’m a hater. I have no financial gain from you. I don’t need anything from you, I’ve earned everything myself.”

At this point, Rogan jumped in to shut Schaub down:

Rogan: “I don’t think we should have this conversation here out of respect for her. She can’t defend herself.”

Schaub: “My bad, my bad. I’m sorry.”

Schaub (10-5, 6-5 UFC) hasn’t competed since a December 2014 loss to Travis Browne. Rousey (12-0, 6-0 UFC) will take on Miesha Tate for the third time later this year.
