Dana on UFC offering Cyborg a Rousey fight: ‘Tito is just making this s**t up’

Well that didn’t take long.

Friday night, UFC Hall of Famer and current Bellator star, Tito Ortiz went on Inside MMA and claimed that the UFC had offered Cris Cyborg a bout against Ronda Rousey at the Autumn mega-show rumored to be planned for the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium.

Yesterday UFC president Dana White responded.

“That was a complete lie,” White told Yahoo Sports. “It’s 100 percent a lie. First of all, the UFC doesn’t even talk to Tito Ortiz, so let’s start there. But we haven’t offered any fight to [Justino]. Tito Ortiz is just making this [expletive] up. In no way, shape or form did we offer her a fight against Ronda at Cowboys Stadium. Completely untrue.

“The problem is, this kind of thing gets out there and picks up momentum when there is no truth to it. And it was just something that he decided to make up. But it’s not true.”

I’m not even going to bother pointing out that Ortiz never claimed to have spoken to the UFC, but instead had gotten his information from Cyborg’s management.

Nor will I remind everyone that there is a long history of confusion and controversy surrounding information coming out of fighter camps based on what the UFC told fighter management.

We will however have updates when Tito or Cyborg inevitably respond.
