Following her ESPY win, Ronda Rousey took a dig at Floyd Mayweather and his domestic violence history that had most media outlets asking about the boxer. With his final bout approaching, it’s Mayweather’s turn to field questions about the UFC champ.
“I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes,” Mayweather said on ESPN’s Sports Center. “When she can do that, then call me.”
“A while back I didn’t know who Ronda Rousey was, so I’m pretty sure she got upset. I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC. You guys have done a tremendous job and I’ve won probably six or seven ESPYS for Fighter of the Year. And I truly believe she deserves it. Congratulations to Ronda Rousey.”
With that somewhat snarky remark, I’m pretty sure this will lead to more media members asking Rousey more questions about Mayweather. While I personally don’t care much about silly hypothetical debates, the mainstream audience constantly pushing this is just further proof that Rousey is likely to be the next biggest combat sports star as both Pacquiao and Mayweather start to ride off into the sunset.
