Ronda Rousey made it look easy tonight at UFC 190, curb-stomping Bethe Corriea in 34 seconds for a KO finish. She also picked up $50,000 in “Performance of the Night” money.
Brazllian jiu-jitsu specialist Demian Maia also got $50,000 in “Performance of the Night” money for his submission win over Neil Magny. Maia utterly dominated Magney for a round and a half before sinking in a second round choke to snap Magney’s seven fight UFC winning streak.
Old rivals Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio “Little Nog” Nogueira also got $50,000 for “Fight of the Night” as they reprised their legendary 2005 Pride bout. Like that bout, many felt Nogueira won but the judges saw it Shogun’s way as he took home a unanimous decision win along with the bonus.
Performance bonuses of $50,000 are generally given to the competitors in the fight of the night and to two other combatants that pulled off a memorable finish. Ronda Rousey had claimed one in four straight bouts coming into this bout, back to when they were still giving out knockout and submission of the night bonuses.
