UFC 190 is an odd one.
At the top, we have a fight that seems to present no questions whatsoever, other than “how long will Ronda Rousey play with her food?” Bethe Correia built a good bit of momentum for herself by taking out two of Rousey’s “Four Horsewomen” teammates, but she doesn’t seem to have much of a shot against the first and only UFC women’s bantamweight champ, who’s only gone past the first round one time in 11 fights. With a 100% finish rate and a crushing experience advantage it feels like a foregone conclusion.
Then, further down on the main card, we have a bevy of fights that seem impossible to predict–but for all the wrong reasons. Which one of the Nogueira brothers is farther past his prime? Can the shopworn Shogun Rua still take a punch well enough to best the smaller of the two Brazilian legends? Is Stefan Struve healthy enough to beat the greater Nog? Do we really want to find out?
And at the start of the main card, Claudia Gadelha and Jessica Aguilar meet in an excellent number one contender’s bout to decide who gets the next shot at strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
It’s a head-scratching card, and yet one that remains strangely compelling. Before you tune in, check out our full, in-depth analysis of the entire affair, with predictions and betting odds for each of the 13 bouts.
