McGregor-slayer Joseph Duffy takes on Dustin Poirier as UFC: Dublin headliner

Irish lightweight Joseph Duffy, the last man to defeat interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor, will headline the UFC’s October 24 return to Dublin, Ireland. The 27-year old announced the big news himself today on Irish television. His opponent: Dustin Poirier.

Only two weeks ago in Glasgow, Duffy forced BJJ black belt Jorge Ivan to submit with a triangle choke in the first round. It has already been his second victory this year, after he made a successful promotional debut against Jake Lindsey in March. All good things come in threes, they say, as the Conor McGregor-slayer now faces the biggest test of his UFC career in his home country.

Dustin Poirier moved back up to lightweight after suffering defeat at the hands of Conor McGregor last September and has looked phenomenal since. His fast victories over Carlos Diego Ferreira and Yancy Medeiros, both via first-round knockout, speak for themselves.

UFC Fight Night Dublin takes place October 24 at the 3Arena, formerly The O2 Dublin. No other fights for the card have been announced just yet.
