Ronda Rousey’s call out of Floyd Mayweather at the ESPY 2015 awards was a calculated move. The UFC bantamweight women’s champ won the ‘Best Fighter’ award at the ESPY’s last week and used her moment in the spotlight to ridicule boxing’s modern day legend.

“I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once,” Rousey said after she won the award, referring to Mayweather’s history of domestic violence.

For ‘Rowdy’, her jab at Mayweather was bitter sweet; she had been planning to call out the boxing star for over a year, after Floyd claimed he didn’t know who Rousey was in an interview with BoxingScene.com last year.

“I planned it since he tried to get snarky with me the year before,” Rousey said to TMZ. “So then I thought to myself, ‘I’m going to beat him one year and say something.’ So I would have waited another year if I didn’t win. I would have waited three years if I had to. I’m a patient girl.”

Ronda Rousey is set to lock horns with Bethe Correia for UFC 190’s main event on August 1st at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
