The UFC Fight Night card in Glasgow has since completed, but that doesn’t mean the MMA stops. Titan Fighting Championships, once on the brink of extinction before Jeff Aronson revived it and brought it to CBS Sports Network, has now got his product under the Fight Pass umbrella. What could that entail? Well Titan under Aronson has been more than willing to let their guys go to the UFC while under contract. It is quite possible that several of the winners from tonight’s event will get a UFC call-up.
As for tonight’s fights, it was supposed to be a quadrupleheader of championships. That’s still technically materializing, but bantamweight champion Brett Johns failed to make weight and was stripped of his title before he could even fight Anthony Gutierrez. The title is only on the line for Gutierrez, just like Kendall Grove in his fight with Brandon Halsey in Bellator. It’s a real shame, because Johns is one of the top prospects at 135 pounds and he captured the title with a really good finish of Walel Watson.
The main event was due to be Pat Healy against Mike Ricci for the lightweight title, but Ricci’s injury meant that Colorado’s Marcus Edwards gets his shot at glory on not even a week’s notice. Healy took a split decision over Kurt Kinser in his Titan debut to become the new champion. Edwards is 10-1 with 9 of his wins coming by stoppage. It’s sure as hell not easy to finish Healy, but the intrigue is definitely there regarding the 26-year-old as a prospect in this division.
Elsewhere on the card is a featherweight championship fight between current belt holder Kurt Holobaugh and undefeated Long Island prospect Andre Harrison. The flyweight title will be contested between former UFC fighters Tim Elliott and Iliarde Santos in what should be a very entertaining contest. Elliott is surely the favorite given his performances inside the Octagon, even in his losses against the likes of Zach Makovsky and Joseph Benavidez.
Who else is here? Isaac Vallie-Flagg, Jose Landi-Jons, Cody Bollinger, Desmond Green, and Dakota Cochrane. For a small-time promotion this is one of the deepest USA regional shows you could possibly muster up. You can catch all of the fights from Kansas City at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT, exclusively on Fight Pass.
