It’s finally here. While it would’ve been nice to have Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor to talk about after months of hype and build-up, this is MMA, and the ratio of wanting nice things to getting nice things isn’t very good. Regardless, the new UFC 189 main event is an interim featherweight title fight between McGregor and Chad Mendes, with the winner set to face Aldo next. In the co-main, welterweight title holder Robbie Lawler — yes, this is a real line in 2015 — rematches Rory MacDonald. It’s a truly great lineup of bouts from the PPV main card to the Fight Pass preliminary card.
Before we get to the fights ahead we have to make sure they’re all on course to make weight. Bloody Elbow has live updates on the UFC 189 weigh-ins starting at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT on Friday, July 10th. Live video of the weigh-ins can be viewed by pressing the play button at the top of the page. We will provide updates here as well as the @BloodyElbow Twitter account.
