As UFC 189 rapidly approaches us, tensions are starting to get high on both challengers for the UFC interim featherweight title. Chad Mendes, who accepted the fight on very short notice once Jose Aldo stepped out due to a fractured rib, took to Twitter to ask for the undisputed champion’s support against Conor McGregor in Portuguese.
“When we fight, we fight, but you always have my respect. The Notorious respects nothing. Will I have the support of your fans at UFC 189?”
Aldo, who already defeated Mendes twice before, has started calling him the division’s prince while McGregor remains the joker in the champion’s eyes. It didn’t take too long before he had a very supportive reply for Mendes, who he hopes beats down Conor.
“The respect is mutual and I’m already looking forward to fight you again. I know you will run through the joker and will have the support of all my fans.”
Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor will square off next Saturday, July 11, at UFC 189, in Las Vegas.
