Joanna Jędrzejczyk is fast becoming one of the most feared champions in the UFC. The Polish standout extended her career resume to an immaculate 10-0 after she pummeled Jessica Penne at UFC Fight Night 69 a couple of weeks ago. Before seizing the strawweight title, Jedrzejczyk entered the Octagon at UFC 185 as an underdog against former Invicta FC champion Carla Esparza and emerged as a force to be reckoned with after thrashing Esparza in the co-main event
The 27-year-old is head and shoulders above the division in the standup department; sniping at her opponents with a catalogue of striking techniques: punches, low kicks, high kicks, knees and devastating elbows. After making mincemeat of Penne in her first title defence, Jedrzejczyk feels her striking is unparalleled. ‘I am,’ was Joanna’s response to Ariel Helwani when asked if she was the best striker in the UFC on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour.
Despite the champ’s soaring confidence, Jedrzejczyk is grounded in her approach to mixed martial arts and is focused intently on maintaining the strawweight title:
“I know I must by very focused,” she said on The MMA Hour. “I must pay attention, I must work harder than before, because they’re going to watch me, you know? All of them, they’re going to watch me.”
Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey believes Jedrzejczyk will take women’s MMA by storm and become the next dominant champion.
