Following a highly successful debut event, submission grappling promotion Polaris Pro have announced a stacked card for their second event on September 12th in Cardiff, Wales. Like Polaris’s first event, this event features a good mix of legends and up-and-comers, including a match between leg lock masters, Garry Tonon and Japanese, MMA pioneer Masakazu Imanari, which is likely to end in spectacular fashion.
In addition to the Tonon/Imanari match Polaris 2 also features notable names including Eddie “Wolverine” Cummings, who has emerged as perhaps the most prolific heel hook artist in the sport over the last 18 months. Cummings will be facing the sambo specialist Reilly Bodycomb in a 15 minute no-gi submission only match.
Elsewhere, Strikeforce veteran, Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro meets Nakamura “The Ronin” Daisuke in a gi match which should prove to be interesting. While Shaolin has retired from competing in MMA, he has been active behind the scenes, debuting as a referee at UFC on FOX 15. Prior to immersing himself in the world of cage fighting, Ribeiro was a multiple time Mundials champ and a 2-time ADCC participant.
