Here’s the third episode of UFC 188 Embedded and there’s more trash talking from heavyweight title challenger and interim champion Fabricio Werdum. This time, not only regular champion Cain Velasquez gets a verbal rubdown, but also his teammate, 185-pound number-one contender Luke Rockhold.
“I went to breakfast this morning and I ran into Cain Velasquez”, Werdum narrated during a training session. “I went over to say hello to Cain Velasquez and he said, ‘I’m not going to say hello.’ I asked, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘Because you bad-mouthed me.’ I’m sure that Cain Velasquez wanted to say ‘Hi,’ but someone told him something. I think it was Luke Rockhold. Do you know who Luke Rockhold ist? That nobody. Luke Rockhold? Nobody, same thing.”
During the first episode, Werdum blamed Velasquez for coquetting with his Mexican heritage, while being born in America. In episode two, he implied the knee surgery Velasquez had to undergo end of last year, was part of a “strategy” to avoid a fight against him. Unsurprisingly, the UFC heavyweight champion didn’t take those comments too well. Werdum feels he’s free of guilt though, but nonetheless sounded a bit more conciliatory in the end.
“It could be that on the first episode of Embedded, I said he isn’t Mexican. He’s American. His parents are Mexican. So he’s not ‘Mexican Mexican,’ but he represents Mexico well. I always said that. We have to tell the truth.”
UFC 188 takes place this Saturday in Mexico City, Mexico. You can watch the whole third Embedded episode above.
