Tonight’s card in New Orleans was one of the best Fight Night cards the UFC has ever put on. Every fight on the main card was finished before the final horn, and five of them were in the first round. The undercard wasn’t too shabby either, with four of the six bouts getting finishes. So who ended up getting the bonuses?
Well, it wasn’t main event winner Dan Henderson, or opening fight winner Francisco Rivera (who begged for a check).
The fight of the night bonuses went to Brian Ortega and Thiago Tavares, who put on a back-and-forth featherweight war on the main card. The bout was one of my favorites of 2015 thus far, and ended with Ortega getting the TKO win.
The other two bonuses went to main card winners and hometown fighters Dustin Poirier and Shawn Jordan. Poirier battered and finished Yancy Medeiros in their lightweight bout, while Shawn Jordan stopped Derrick Lewis in their heavyweight featured prelim bout.
