Following a lackluster fight night event that featured only a handful of enthralling fights, the co-main event showcased a thrilling ‘Fight of the Night’ worthy bout between Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz.
Check out Tim Burke’s play-by-play for the fight:
Round 2 – Body kicks from Do Bronx. Lentz tied him up. They went to the ground in Oliveira’s half guard. Lentz passed to side. Oliveira gave up his back to get to his feet. Lentz took him back down and Oliveira landed right on his face. Oliveira reversed while Lentz hunted for a guillotine. Lentz back on top now. Oliveira dropped back for a heel hook. 50/50. Lentz spun out and worked from the top again. Oliveira finally got up with 25 seconds to go, then dropped for another leg lock. 10-9 Lentz.
Round 3 – Oliveira with a knee to the body and some leg kicks. Another hard knee. Lentz backed him up against the cage. Oliveira caught a standing guillotine and dropped down, then reversed to mount. He cranked on it for a while. Lentz lasted a lot longer in it than he had any right to, but he was eventually forced to tap out.
Charles Oliveira defeated Nik Lentz by submission (guillotine choke), 1:10 of round 3
