UFC Fight Night: Condit vs Alves is ready to go, and you might be surprised at how promising the card is–though there’s a certain patch of fights opening up the main card that will almost certainly be slow-paced and not all that pretty to watch. The prelims, however, are chock full of hot prospects like Mirsad Bektic and Tom Breese, potential title contenders like Jussier da Silva and Wilson Reis, and one of the UFC’s most reliable action fighters in Rony Jason in the featured slot.
The final three fights of the evening reflect the excitement of the prelims on a larger scale, with Alex Oliveira attempting to make good on the promise shown in his fight with Gilbert Burns against a faded KJ Noons, followed by Charles Oliveira pitting himself once more against Nik Lentz. While “Du Bronx” may be finally coming into his own, there’s a good chance that headliners Carlos Condit and Thiago Alves are well past their primes. Condit will get his chance to prove that he’s still an elite welterweight, while Alves will attempt to show that he’s not as washed up as everybody says. Even if both fighters are on the decline, Alves and Condit match up very well, and it should make for an entertaining main event.
