The encounter headlines GLORY 22 FRANCE, which airs live in the US on Spike TV at 4pm ET, and in France on Canal+ at 10pm CET.
“This fight is the most important fight of my life. I want to prove to myself that if you have enough talent and you train hard enough you can be the champion,” Adegbuyi says.
Why does he deserve to be champion, you ask? “I am exotic, I have charisma, I have good kickboxing and knockout power. All in one,” he smiles modestly.
Verhoeven has proved to be a dominant force in his most recent GLORY outings against Daniel Ghita and Errol Zimmerman, but Adegbuyi is not convinced.
“In my opinion he is a good fighter but he is not the best fighter in the division. I think he trains hard but for me he is boring,” he says.
“Everybody says he doesn’t have knockout power. Maybe that is because he doesn’t have good boxing. He doesn’t have a lot of power in his fists and you can counter him easy. He doesn’t have my speed and I think this will be the key.”
