Embattled UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will make his first court appearance later today in Bernalillo county court. He is facing a felony charge following a hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning where a pregnant female ended up with a broken arm. According to the police report, Jones fled from his rental vehicle and the scene on foot after returning to grab a “hand full of cash”. The vehicle contained documents of his, and a marijuana pipe with marijuana in it.
MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi has the info on the court date:
Jon Jones will have his felony first appearance at Bernalillo County metro court today at 1:30 p.m. local time, per court spokesperson.

During that felony first appearance, Jones will enter a plea and the judge will determine whether he has to post another bond for release.

Albuquerque station KOAT has a statement from Jones’ attorney, that rings pretty hollow:
“He wants to get down to training for this fight he has,” said Jones’ attorney, Vincent Ward. “He wouldn’t want to be dealing with this right now, but he’s a great guy, he’s taking all this seriously.”
Jones could face up to three years in jail if found guilty on the felony charge. He is still scheduled to face off with Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23rd as of right now.
