Beneil Dariush just picked up the biggest win of his UFC career. The 25-year-old stepped up on late notice to take on Jim Miller, and out-grappled a guy known for his grappling to pick up a unamimous decision on the featured UFC on Fox 15 undercard bout. All three judges had it 29-28.
The first few minutes of the fight were spent on the feet, with Miller landing some decently hard shots. Dariush got caught trying to do too much with a takedown attempt and Miller went for a kimura, then secured a triangle. Dariush was able to escape though, and after a Miller guillotine attempt he rode out the round on top.
Dariush turned it up in round two, outgrappling Miller and coming close to sinking a choke a few different times. Miller was able to survive though.
Dariush got a takedown early in the final round and looked for an arm triangle. Miller was able to defend but Dariush kept trying it. The crowd was booing but it was an interesting battle. Dariush moved over to side, then worked his way to mount. Miller managed to get up and slam Dariush, but couldn’t get him off of his back.
With the win, Dariush moved to 5-1 in the UFC and has won four straight. Miller has lost two in a row.
