The opening main card fight on UFC on FOX 15 this Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey features a pivotal women’s strawweight contest between 20-year-old rising star Paige VanZant and TUF 20 cast member Felice Herrig. With the UFC’s newest division still in its developmental stages, there’s a possibility that the winner of this fight — although VanZant would surely be the more likely of the two — could face reigning champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk later this year.
As one of the marquee fights on the card, VanZant and Herrig took part in today’s UFC media day in New York City, concluding the session with the traditional staredown. Herrig tried to remove VanZant’s left arm and clenched fist away from her face, which prompted Dana White to intervene in case it turned into anything more than just that.
