Sad news coming out of Odessa, Ukraine today. Kickboxer Sergei Lascenko has been killed. Details are still coming in, but early reports indicate that the fighter was shot on the streets of Odessa, then brought in to the hospital where he died. Lascenko was 27 years old.
Lascenko broke onto the international kickboxing scene in 2009 at the age of just 21. During a 3 day period that year, Lascenko competed in back to back tournaments, winning one and coming in 2nd in a K-1 tournament. He competed in K-1 among other organizations, putting together a 7-5 record in the organization and scoring a win over Rico Verhoeven. He ran into a rough patch in his career in 2012, going on an 0-4 run, but rebounded with a 3-1 run. His last fight was a tournament win in October where he claimed the KOK Heavyweight tournament title.
Bloody Elbow extends our condolences to the family of Lascenko.
