Earlier this week, former UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar officially announced that he was renewing his WWE contract and would not be returning to the UFC. Lesnar, who currently holds the WWE Heavyweight championship, has gone back to his roots as a pro wrestler in recent years. His current contract ends after this Sunday’s Wrestlemania 31, and there was much speculation that he could be returning to the UFC once Wrestlemania was complete. Now we know that will not be happening and Lesnar will remain in the WWE for at least three more years.

Dana White spoke to TMZ Sports about the situation, where White showed no ill will over Lesnar’s decision:

I think it’s the right decision and I’m happy for him.

In this sport you have to get up out of bed every day and want to go in that gym and train your ass off and be the best and win. If that’s not your attitude and that’s not your mindset you don’t belong here.

Vince [McMahon] gave him a deal he couldn’t refuse at the right time in his life. He’s 37 years old. This is a young man’s sport, a young woman’s sport.

I’m happy for Vince, I’m happy for Brock and I’m happy for his family. It’s a great deal for everybody.

Lesnar won the UFC title in 2008, defeating Randy Couture in just his 4th pro fight. He defended the belt twice before losing to Cain Velasquez. Lesnar left the UFC in 2011 with a pro MMA record of 5-3. He’s been in the WWE since, winning their world title last summer.

Lesnar headlines Wrestlemania 31 this Sunday, live on PPV, when he defends his WWE title against Roman Reigns. For more on Wrestlemania 31, be sure to check out our colleagues at CagesideSeats.
