Pinoy Pride 30 happens on Saturday, March 28 at the historic Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines. The card dubbed as ‘D-Day: Donnie and Donaire’ will feature two of the country’s biggest boxing stars in Nonito Donaire and Donnie Nietes.
Nietes (34-1-4) holds top billing as he looks to defend his WBO World Light Flyweight title against Mexican challenger Gilberto “Parrita” Parra. Considered as the lineal champ at 108 lbs, ‘Ahas’ will also be trying to extend his stay as the longest reigning boxing champ in Philippine boxing history; An impressive feat considering the multitude of Filipino greats such as Gabriel ‘Flash’ Elorde, Manny Pacquiao, and others who have made their mark inside the ring throughout the years.
Nietes and his ALA Boxing teammates worked out Tuesday afternoon at the ALA Boxing gym in New Manila, and BloodyElbow.com was on deck for the brief training session.
Check above for shots of Nietes, along with top undefeated prospect Albert Pagara (22-0) and fan favorite AJ Banal (32-2-1).
