UFC 185 prelims results: Benoit upsets Pettis, Duffy wins debut

UFC 185 has kicked off with three straight finishes. The Fight Pass undercard was full of action, featuring a bevy of TKO victories including a big upset in the final bout with Ryan Benoit picking up a big win over Sergio Pettis in flyweight action. Here’s how it all went down.

Ryan Benoit defeated Sergio Pettis by TKO (strikes), 1:34 of round 2

The final main card fight ended up as one of the bigger upsets of 2015 thus far. Pettis got off to a pretty good start and probably won round one, but Benoit had his moments when the two men decided to exchange in the pocket. In the second, both threw left hooks at the same time but it was Benoit’s that connected, dropping Pettis to the mat. Benoit jumped all over him and pounded him out, then actually kicked him in the butt after the referee separated them for some reason. It was undoubtedly the biggest win of Benoit’s career, and his first in the UFC.

This was a very one-sided fight. Pacheco got tagged multiple times in the first round and couldn’t implement any sort of grappling game with the Muay Thai specialist. In the second she finally got Pacheco to buckle after landing a few huge shots. Pacheco didn’t go down, but the referee had seen enough and waved it off anyway. Pacheco has lost both of her UFC fights thus far, and De Randamie improved to 2-1in the promotion with the win.
