Heyman: Brock Lesnar can ‘spend his summer unifying the WWE and UFC titles’

One of the hottest topics of discussion over the past few months has been the future of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. He is currently a pro wrestler in the WWE, where he holds their heavyweight title. The promotion is setting up a WrestleMania match for him, which is the last date on his contract. After that, he has a choice – re-sign with the WWE, or try to make one last run in MMA. Most likely in the UFC.

Last night on WWE’s flagship show Raw, Lesnar’s “advisor”, Paul Heyman actually addressed the Brock-to-UFC chatter. In an interview where Lesnar was standing beside him looking menacing as usual, Heyman stated that Brock can do whatever he wants – even possibly unifying the WWE and UFC titles:

“If Brock Lesnar wants to spend his summer unifying the WWE and UFC titles, that’s what he’s gonna do.

This title no longer belongs to WWE, this title belongs to Brock Lesnar. It’s his. And he’s not giving it back.”

Obviously this is a storyline, but there apparently has been real friction between Lesnar and his current employers of late. He walked out of Raw two weeks ago due to a disagreement with WWE CEO Vince McMahon over his potential new contract, and showed up at UFC 184 a couple of days later in the biggest suit I’ve ever seen.

WrestleMania takes place on March 29th. Lesnar, 37, hasn’t competed in MMA since a 2011 loss to Alistair Overeem.
