UFC 184 results recap: Rousey vs. Zingano
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

While Saturday night’s PPV event was one that was left in shambles following a slew of injuries and fight cancelations, it still presented an opportunity to showcase one of the UFC’s prized jewels: Ronda Rousey.

Faced with an opponent promoted as her toughest challenge to date, Rousey disposed of her as though she was one of her easiest obstacles yet. She was prepared for Zingano’s quick-attack and immediately flipped over and locked in the submission in fourteen seconds flat. It was a stunning conclusion to a fight many anticipated to be (slightly more) competitive. However, Rousey was certainly not interested in prolonging her victory a second longer than necessary.

Official Result: Ronda Rousey def. Cat Zingano via submission (Armbar, 0:16, Round 1)

What was the high point of the fight?

How can one visualize a high point for a fight that lasts a grand total of 14 seconds? The entire contest was one continuous sequence that began with Zingano bull rushing Rousey before eventually tapping out to a quick tapout in a modified armbar.

Where do these two go from here?

Ronda Rousey has cleaned out her entire division, and it does not look like there will be notable challenger in her immediate future. The dominant champion called out Bethe Coreia following her win, but few expect that to play out any differently than Rousey’s previous eleven fights. Apart from that, Rousey can look forward to match-up against Holly Holm, and potentially Miesha Tate (again). They may not be the most competitive fights, but they allow us to watch the sublime athlete work wonders in the octagon.

Watch now, later, or never?

Considering the entire fight lasted 14 seconds, watch it now. Even though Rousey continues to steamroll through her opposition, she is still a unique athlete that should be appreciated. Who knows how long she will continue to grace our television screens.
