Last weekend, the two arguably best female fighters in the world defended their championship belts in a combined time of only 60 seconds. That shows how dominant UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Invicta featherweight titleholder Cristiane Justino really are – and that the only fight that makes sense for the both of them now is a bout between each other.
Invicta president Shannon Knapp has a strong feeling that this long awaited superfight could indeed finally happen – and that it could happen within the next 12 months:
“I can’t really say that it will happen this year. But what I can tell you is the fans should not give up, because this fight is closer than it has ever been — ever. If it’s gonna happen, I think we’re gonna see it happen possibly by the end of this year or first quarter of next.”

Rousey submitted highly touted challenger Cat Zingano with an armbar only 14 seconds into their main event fight at UFC 184 on Saturday. Cyborg needed 46 seconds to stop Charmaine Tweet with brutal ground and pound at Invicta 11 on Friday.
Rousey has explained repeatedly that she would be up to fight Justino any time, but only at her weight limit of 135 lbs., a limit that 145 lbs. “Cyborg” feels she won’t be able to make.
The Rousey vs. Cyborg fight has been talked about for nearly two years now, since Rousey became the first UFC women’s champion. UFC’s CEO Lorenzo Fertitta recently stated that his organization is in negotiations with “Cyborg”, in an interview with MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani, the Brazilian wrecking machine herself was confident that the bout will happen, too.
