Burt Watson’s reported exit from the UFC has come as a shock to many fans, as he has long been one of the cornerstones of Zuffa’s event promotion. Responsible for booking rides, helping with weight cuts, timing walkouts, and all sorts of other little jobs, the idea that he could suddenly be gone feels almost surreal. Even stranger are the reports that a disagreement over Mark Munoz’s weight cut (or something thereabouts) heading into his bout against Roan Carneiro at UFC 184, could be behind Watson stepping away.

As to his side of the story, Mark Munoz was quick to deny that there was any disagreement between himself and Watson:

Apparently, Ariel Helwani also spoke of the controversy on the most recent episode of the MMA Hour, saying that Watson had not quit or been fired, but that there was an incident between him and UFC executives.

Stay tuned as this story continues to develop.
