UFC 184 goes down tomorrow night in Los Angeles and the women’s bantamweight title is on the line in the main event. Challenger Cat Zingano is getting her first crack at UFC gold in a state where drug testing is taken more seriously than most other states, and when champion Ronda Rousey and her underwent recent random tests, there was a rumor that Zingano had failed for marijuana.
After the open workouts yesterday, Zingano spoke to the media and said she wasn’t even aware of the rumor. And it didn’t matter anyway, because she passed:
“I passed the drug test and the pregnancy test. So I’m good.”
“I didn’t even study.”
The rumor had died down after it was announced that Rousey and Zingano had indeed passed their tests a few days ago anyway. But it is interesting to note that Zingano wasn’t even aware of the hoopla surrounding the whole thing. Obviously drug testing has been at the forefront since a string of recent failures involving top stars such as Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Nick Diaz, and Hector Lombard.
At least that doesn’t seem to be a concern heading into UFC 184.
