Donald Cerrone vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of those matchups that fans are constantly craving for: The number two against the number-three ranked guy in the division, a certified striking expert with legit submissions against a gritty sambo master from the infamous region of Dagestan. This should make for an exciting scrap, right?
Wrong, says Donald Cerrone in a video-interview on MMAJunkie.com.
“Stylistically, he’s going to be a terrible fight, man. I’m a striker, he’s a wrestler. So I’ve gotta get my wrestling on. I like fighting. I don’t give a sh-t. […] I’ll definitely gauge my training toward wrestling,” Cerrone said. “But you never know what he’s going to do. He may try – but I doubt it. His striking’s not top level. He’s probably just going to try to wrestle the sh-t out of me.”
Cerrone, who is known for his entertaining style of fighting, is currently on a seven-fight win streak and already fought twice this year. If there’s a fight somewhere, you can always count on the “Cowboy”. It’s just what he does.
But the fight against Nurmagomedov is no one the Colorado native is looking forward to very much, because he is afraid it could fail to entertain the fans.
“I want to fight,” he said. “Not only fight on a date, but actually go in there and throw down. So, for someone that wants to just come and wrestle me and not make it an entertaining fight, I hate that on my side because I don’t give the fans what they want to see. I want to throw down.”

All those worries aside, Cerrone leaves no doubt that he will gladly accept the fight against the 22-0 sambo master. Because in his mind Nurmagomedov is “the only one left before getting the belt”.
