Hammer time? Looks like it. Reebok has their first individual sponsorship deal in place with a woman in the UFC’s strawweight division. Is it reigning champion, Carla Esparza? Nope. Challenger, Joanna Jedrzejczyk? Nuh-uh. It’s the division’s most media savvy participant, Team Alpha Male’s Paige VanZant. In fact, VanZant becomes only the second woman UFC fighter to sign with Reebok (to public knowledge) thus far, Ronda Rousey being the first. VanZant announced the deal with the UFC’s official uniform partner on Instagram, via rap dance.
So honored to be a Reebok athlete!!! My new kicks got me groovin!!!!!! Haha @reebok @reebokwomen
VanZant is currently scheduled to face off against fellow “hot girl” strawweight fighter, Felice Herrig at UFC on Fox 15, on April 18th in Newark, New Jersey. The event is expected to be headlined by a middleweight bout between Luke Rockhold and Lyoto Machida.
