As two of the top competitors in a noticeably shallow light-heavyweight division, many fans and pundits anticipated a potential match-up between Alexander Gustafsson and Daniel Cormier for sometime in the first half of 2015.

However, during Saturday night’s post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed that both former title challengers already have different fights lined up for them.

“It does interest me, (however), Cormier has another fight set up now,” White said at the UFC 183 presser. “We actually have another fight for Gustafsson too. But after those two fights, that one makes sense.”

White was immediately asked if one of those scheduled opponents would be former champion Rashad Evans, to which his response was:”Rashad is hurt.”

Cormier and Gustafsson both suffered losses this past January. Gustafsson suffered a crushing first-round TKO loss to Anthony Johnson – one that cost him his potential rematch against Jon Jones. Cormier suffered his first career defeat when he lost a clear unanimous decision to Jones at UFC 182.

Jones is scheduled to defend his title at UFC 187 against Anthony Johnson. The event is set to take place on May 23 in Las Vegas.
