Kelvin Gastelum is one of the sport’s fastest rising prospects and now a top 10 welterweight. But with roughly an hour to go before the UFC 183 weigh-ins, Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter has reported via Twitter that Gastelum has once again come across issues with his weight cut, and this time it has resulted in hospitalization. However, according to UFC president Dana White, his co-main event clash with Tyron Woodley “is still on”.

His bout with the flu didn’t seem to dampen Gastelum’s confidence during his UFC 183 media scrum

Gastelum (10-0) has previously missed weight (on the first attempt) for welterweight bouts against Rick Story and Nico Musoke. He was fined 20% of his purse after not being able to shed the excess weight for the Musoke bout.

Again, this is a developing story and Bloody Elbow will update this post as soon as new information becomes available. You can also follow the @BloodyElbow Twitter account for live updates of the UFC 183 weigh-ins, which may also provide any extra info on Gastelum’s situation.

UPDATED AT 6:55 PM ET: AXS TV’s Ron Kruck reports that Gastelum won’t make weight for the Woodley fight and will be fined 20% of his purse.
