Nikita Krylov and Makwan Amirkhani didn’t use up their full fifteen minutes in the cage to pick up wins at UFC on Fox 14 today in Sweden. Not even close. One finished in 75 seconds, the other in eight. Yes, eight.
Nikita Krylov defeated Stanislav Nedkov by submission (guillotine choke) at 1:15 of round one
Nedkov came out throwing haymakers, but he ate a shot that sent him staggering into the cage. Krylov looked for a couple of different chokes, but settled on a guillotine. Nedkov was stuck and he knew it, so he tapped out. Krylov has fought for a total of eight minutes and fifteen seconds in his last four fights.
Makwan Amirkhani defeated Andy Ogle by TKO (strikes) at :08 of round one
mirkhani made his UFC debut in extremely impressive fashion. The Finnish fighter charged right out of his corner with a flying knee that landed on the button. The shot staggered Ogle back against the cage, and Amirkhani followed up with a rush of punches that forced the referee to step in at the eight second mark. I thought it was at the seven second mark, but the official time added a tick to the clock.
The finish could be seen as controversial as it didn’t seem that Ogle was out, but it doesn’t matter now.
