As of right now, World Series of Fighting doesn’t have a co-main event for tomorrow’s WSOF 17 card in Vegas. Veteran Brian Cobb was supposed to be taking on undefeated Jonathan Nunez in a lightweight bout that would serve as one of the featured attractions of the evening. However, WSOF Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz stated to MMA Fighting that Cobb injured his knee on a treadmill and is out of the bout.
Cobb hasn’t competed since mid-2013, when he was defeated by Justin Gaethje at WSOF 3. He was scheduled to fight Luis Palomino at WSOF 11, but was forced out with an injury 17 days before that card took place.
Nunez has fought once in the organization, taking a split decision over Ozzy Dugulubgov last year.
According to Abdel-Aziz they are looking for a replacement fighter to take on Nunez, but with the weigh-ins taking place at 7pm EST, it seems like a long shot.
