Daniel Cormier’s corner told him that he needs to get a stoppage against Jon Jones in the last round of the UFC 182 main event.

Cormier came out and landed a nice punch, went for a takedown but couldn’t get it. Jones pushed him into the cage and started landing big shots to the body. Jones was looking for a takedown against the cage again, Cormier was defending, but defending meant that he wasn’t attacking.

Cormier is stuck in a bit of a clinch game against Jones but can’t win this fight unless he does something else.

With a minute and a half left Cormier is still looking for a takedown. Cormier managed a slam but Jones popped right back up.

Cormier continued looking for the takedown but couldn’t get it and Jones held up his hands with seconds left. Then he threw a few punches and Cormier started throwing return shots and popped Herb Dean as the round ended.

49-46 across the board on the official scorecards – Jon Jones retains his UFC light heavyweight title.
