Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones finally met in the Octagon when UFC 182’s main event kicked off. Jones threw a variety of strikes to get things going and did manage a takedown where he had Cormier face down on the canvas but was able to bounce up quickly.
Cormier worked inside with some good punches in the clinch but Jones was working the good kicks and elbows, marking up Cormier’s face a little bit.
Jones worked a spinning back kick but that missed, but he also dug in with some very good punches to the body. Cormier is having trouble so far with getting inside consistently. Cormier has also failed with some takedown attempts. Cormier landed a nice uppercut late in the round but Jones also landed a good knee.
Cormier also with a good combo at the end of the round. Interesting round but one that I have scored 10-9 for Jones.
