In the “featured prelim” bout on the UFC 182 prelims on Fox Sports 1, Paul Felder impressed with a shocking knockout of Danny Castillo. Felder had been great in the first round, but in the second he threw a spinning backfist that knocked Castillo out cold.

Only three days into the new year we might have seen the best knockout of the year.

Marcus Brimage and Cody Garbrandt put on a fast paced bantamweight bout that saw Garbrandt impress in his UFC debut. Brimage tried to keep up and was throwing some big strikes but Garbrandt was cutting loose with bigger, more accurate punches. A few seconds from what looked to be a decision victory for Garbrandt, he landed a series of shots that hurt Brimage badly. Follow up shots led to Herb Dean stopping in for the stoppage with only moments left in the fight.

Shawn Jordan and Jared Cannonier did what heavyweights do and stood and traded punches before Jordan landed a right hand behind Cannonier’s ear and dropped him. From there it was just a matter of some perfunctory punches from Jordan that forced referee John McCarthy to step in and stop the fight.

Evan Dunham opened up the Fox Sports 1 broadcast with a big time beating on Rodrigo Damm. Damm’s corner had their visas denied, meaning Damm was cornered by a bunch of fighters who were just willing to help him out. Dunham used his striking to pick apart Damm, dominating every round en route to a clear decision win.
