Japan’s Mixed Martial Arts tradition every New Year’s Eve has been home to several classic moments in the sport’s history. While the spectacle isn’t as big as it once was, it continues on and is still where some of the best fighters from the country ply their trade on a much bigger stage.
On 2014’s year-ender, there are two large shows going head-to-head in Japan. DEEP is hosting a title clash between established vets Satoru Kitaoka and Yoshiyuki Yoshida, along with a card filled with DEEP champion vs. Pancrase champion clashes with several of the most promising new stars in Shintaro Ishiwatari, Isao Kobayashi, and many others.
The other event is Inoki’s IGF show, which features some of the most popular veterans in Mirko Cro Cop, Satoshi Ishii, and Shinya Aoki.

As what is becoming a staple of these events, Aoki has landed yet another impressive submission finish, and this time it was with a twister. Watch the clip below as the Tobikan Judan lands the rarely seen submission against Yuki Yamamoto:
Shortly after finishing his opponent in just a little over a minute, Aoki, in vintage fashion, immediately taunts his fallen opponent as he celebrated his win. He even walked out of the arena flipping the double birds:
