Shortly after CM Punk’s move to the UFC, Bellator is now looking to add another former WWE star to their stable as well.

According to Scott Coker, Bellator is in discussions with pro-wrestling star and multiple time WWE champion Alberto Del Rio. Unlike CM Punk though, this 37-year-old cross-over star actually has a competitive background in Mixed Martial Arts. He trained under Marco Ruas in the past, and has gone 9-5 in his MMA career under the name Dos Caras Jr.

“I think that we did reach out. I’m not sure where that is and by no means is it in the 11th hour, but I know there’s some dialogue going on,” Coker told MMA Fighting. “He’s had a lot of great MMA fights and I just think that would be a fun time to see him fight some of the guys we have on our roster.”

The Mexican athlete has competed in Deep and PRIDE, and his last bout happened in 2010 before focusing on pro-wrestling. He became a huge star in WWE during his stay, and held numerous titles with the company. Earlier this year, Alberto Del Rio was released by the WWE due to ‘unprofessional conduct’, which interestingly enough, opens things up for him to sign with other companies.

The 6-foot-5 wrestler, who’s real name is Jose Alberto Rodriguez, would likely compete again as a heavyweight if he does decide to return to MMA. Bellator also has former WWE star Bobby Lashley on their roster.
