Today: MMA stars face off in NYC in the Grapple at the Garden

The 2014 edition of the Grapple at the Garden, an annual showcase for the sport of wrestling in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, features some top college wrestling competition, along with a dual meet between two teams hand-picked combat sports stars, helmed by Joe Warren and Rolles Gracie.

This dual meet starts at noon eastern, and will air live on a pay-per-view streamĀ accessible here for 14 dollars. The star studded lineups of the two teams appear below, and feature MMA stars, prominent BJJ practitioners and Olympic hopeful wrestlers. Among the MMA stars competing are the UFC’s Gray Maynard and Scott Jorgensen, aswell as Bellator’s Mo Lawal, Joe Warren and Shawn Bunch.

After the exhibition dual, all attention will turn to the center mat for the Grapple’s two main events, a freestyle wrestling match between the USA’s top heavyweight, two-time world medalist and Olympian Tervel Dlagnev, and Russia’s Khajimurad Gatsalov, an Olympic champion and five-time world champion who famously beat UFC light heavyweight title contender Daniel Comier in the semifinals of the 2004 Olympics.

In the final match of the day, four-time NCAA champ Kyle Dake will make his major Senior-level Greco-Roman debut against Armenian world champion Arsen Jufalakyan.
