One of the biggest factors in getting UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey set up with a huge fight with #1 women’s featherweight Cris Cyborg was whether or not Cyborg would drop to 135 lbs to fight Rousey. It’s something that Rousey has demanded, even though Cyborg has never competed in the division. With her latest attempt (for a December bout in Invicta) scrapped due to injury, it looks like the Brazilian is no longer bothering with a bantamweight move. Via MMA Fighting:

The Brazilian brawler said she had postponed the drop to bantamweight, but turns out that the lack of commitment from both UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and the UFC president Dana White on making the anticipated super fight forced Cyborg to change her mind.

“I realized I’m the only one making an effort for this fight to happen,” she said. “I believe both should make an effort.”

In an interview with Tatame, Cyborg also stated that she would only fight at featherweight, where she is Invicta’s reigning champion, or at a catchweight (obviously above bantamweight).

Not that there was any serious traction to begin with, but you may as well forget about Rousey/Cyborg now, and possibly for good.
