UFC 181 is officially in the books and it was an outstanding slate of fights. Formerly known as T.P.’s Technique Review the show has been rechristened as Inside the Guard. Took me awhile but I finally found a name I find satisfyingly fun and clever.
The concept of the show is still the same, focus on a few key aspects of a few interesting fights and break them down. Now instead of looking at my face through a laptop webcam, I can actually use a few images and YouTube videos to help with the explanations in a Judo Chop like style.
Two of the pictures included in the video are by Joe Camporeale of USA TODAY Sports, the other are screen captures, and the video by Firas Zhabi can be found right here.
Here is link to the YouTube version and a link to audio only for you podcast types.
Today’s show is going to tackle:
- Hendrick’s struggles in later rounds
- Hendrick’s growth as a fighter
- Lawler’s excellent counter-wrestling
- Pettis brother’s differing approach to grappling
- The bulldog choke
