Urijah Faber once more expressed his displeasure towards Dominick Cruz, his longtime nemesis whom he holds a win and a loss. Interviewed by Sportv, “The California Kid” said that his plan is to untie this score and that he’s cool about his rivals of Nova Uniao and even likes them compared to “The Dominator”.
“This is a guy (Cruz) that I dislike. Jose Aldo and Renan Barao are cool guys. Cruz is a dope. I would like to put my fist in his chin at least once more before I retire. Personally, I like a lot of fighters from Nova Uniao and also the coach Andre Pederneiras. But we do have a very healthy and competitive rivalry. I know that some of my guys don’t like some of their guys and vice versa. I think that for now and for a long time we’ll have this rivalry because we are two of the best teams in the world.”
Faber said also that he would have to take the time to think about it if the UFC asked him to fight against T.J. Dillashaw, the Bantamweight champion and a Team Alpha Male training partner.
“You always have to consider that idea. For me, I’ve been fighting for eleven years and I had 38 fights. I’ve been a world champion, I’ve been at the top of my division, even 135 or 145, from my entire career. For me, it’s a bridge that I’ll cross when I get there. If the UFC comes to me and say: ‘Hey, this is a fight that we want to happen now’, I’ll have to think about. It’s not a fight that I want but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”
Before another possible title shot, the former WEC Featherweight champion will have to face Francisco Rivera this Saturday, at UFC 181. Faber maybe will get the chance of fighting against Cruz again in a match for the UFC Bantamweight title, if “The Dominator” defeat Dillashaw in a bout that will take place in 2015, but still unscheduled.
