Renan Barao admitted that he was his own worst enimy during the process of weight cutting. The former UFC Bantamweight champion failed to make the 135-pound limit when he was scheduled to face T.J. Dillashaw in a rematch at UFC 177 last August, losing the title challenger spot. Interviewed by Ag. Fight, Barao said that he is respecting a strict diet.
“After what happened, I improved my way of feeding and saw that I have to train more. I stopped eating junk food, now I’m eating athlete food. I used to eat a lot of pizza, pasta. I’m more disciplined and following my nutritionist’s orders.”
Expecting to make the weight this time, Barao will face Mitch Gagnon on December 20, at the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Dollaway.
