It may be some time before we see Heavyweight kickboxer Hesdy Gerges fighting again. The fighter, along with four other associates, has just been sentenced for a 2010 drug arrest, and the results are not good. Gerges has been sentenced to 54 months in prison, plus a fine of 22,000 Euros. Gerges plans to appeal, telling Amsterdam news outlet AT5, “I will fight until the bitter end.” If the appeal does not go through, it’s still possible Gerges could serve less time, but he would certainly still be looking at a considerable amount of time behind bars.
As a result of this sentencing, Bloody Elbow has learned that Gerges has been cut from Glory, effective immediately. Glory CEO Jon Franklin confirmed the news to Bloody Elbow:
“Hesdy Gerges has been cut from the GLORY roster and removed from its rankings. GLORY does not tolerate any type of illegal activity and will remove athletes that violate our code of conduct in or out of the ring.”
